Building MyZubster LIFE: An Open-Source Circular Economy Ecosystem
Today we made new progress on MyZubster LIFE 2027, an open-source initiative connecting technology, circular economy, research, public services, and community participation.
University collaboration
We had a positive exploratory meeting with representatives of UnitelmaSapienza.
We discussed:
- environmental and social KPI tracking;
- Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification;
- university testing of MyZubster and Zorgax;
- open-source project participation;
- possible roles within a future LIFE consortium.
The university will evaluate its potential role after our upcoming meeting with ENEA. No formal partnership has been confirmed yet.
What we are building
MyZubster aims to provide shared digital infrastructure for different circular-economy pilots:
- circular water and wastewater reuse;
- agriculture and nutrient recovery;
- electronics, repair, and second life;
- sustainable packaging and logistics;
- energy and digital infrastructure;
- circular digital commerce;
- GovTech and public services;
- education and social inclusion.
Zorgax, our AI support layer, is being designed to guide participants, organize authorized data, support project workflows, and make contributions easier to document.
GovTech and digital commerce
We are developing a GovTech concept that could be proposed to organizations such as Maggioli, covering verifiable workflows, Digital Product Passports, public-service integration, and project governance.
We are also exploring a circular-commerce model that could eventually be proposed to AliExpress and other marketplaces. The concept includes product durability information, repair, reuse, refurbished goods, responsible sellers, and lower-impact logistics.
These are independent proposals under development. Maggioli and AliExpress are not currently confirmed MyZubster partners.
Open technical challenges
We are looking for contributors interested in:
- API and data architecture;
- environmental KPI and MRV systems;
- Digital Product Passports;
- privacy-by-design;
- AI-assisted project planning;
- dashboards and data visualization;
- identity and consent workflows;
- accessible user experiences;
- testing and documentation.
The next major step is our meeting with ENEA to discuss scientific validation, circular water pilots, and the possible project coordinator role.
If you are a developer, researcher, designer, or sustainability professional, you can explore the project and contribute through GitHub.
